The International Society for Technology In Education (ISTE) is a well-respected peer organization for educators dealing with technology in the classroom. For more than 30 years ISTE has been "helping teachers and educational leaders connect with each other to advancing excellence in learning and teaching through innovative and effective uses of technology."
ISTE has also become a clearing house for technology support information and research. ISTE's national conference (formerly called NECC) brings together educators to advance the use of technology in achieving educational goals. ISTE 2011 will be held in Philadelphia June 26-29, 2011.
ISTE has taken a leadership role in the development of technology standards for students, teacher and administrators in K-12 education. Their National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) serve as the benchmark for districts wishing to adopt standards to guide educational technology practices. You can learn more about NETS standards here.
